The Macedon Lodge team of Lloyd Williams have included four horses in the Moonee Valley Cup nominations, but it is extremely unlikely that all four will take their place in the field for the $250,000 race this Saturday.

Green Moon and Sea Moon both ran in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) last weekend and appear unlikely to back up in the Moonee Valley Cup, while the newly imported Amralah was expected to run in the Group 3 Geelong Cup (2400m) on Wednesday, but was not included in the acceptances for the race.

The most likely Lloyd Williams-owned runner in the Moonee Valley Cup is Massiyn who is still chasing his first race win in Australia after finishing sixth in the Caulfield RSL Welfare Plate (1700m) at Caulfield on September 28 and tenth in the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) on October 11.

One stayer that is guaranteed to take his place in the 2014 Moonee Valley Cup field is veteran stayer Precedence, who is chasing his third win in the Group 2 race.

Precedence made his debut in the Moonee Valley Cup when he took out the 2010 edition of the race and he finished fourth behind Vatuvei in 2012 before he returned to winning form in the race last year.

The Zabeel gelding started his 2014 Spring Racing Carnival campaign with a 12th place finish in the Listed The Sofitel (1400m) at Flemington on September 13 before he finished game fifth behind The Cleaner in the Group 3 JRA Cup (2040m) at Moonee Valley on September 26.

The 2014 Moonee Valley Cup is set to have an international flavour after Andre Fabre-trained Au Revoir and OTI Racing-owned Lord Van Percy were included in the nominations for the race.

Au Revoir finished fourth behind Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe (2400m) runners Ruler Of The World and Flintshire in his last start in Europe before making the trip to Australia and connections are hoping that he can take out the Moonee Valley Cup and earn a penalty to move him up the order of entry for the Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m).

Lord Van Percy made his Australian racing debut with a credible fifth behind Big Memory in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield on October 11 and he is another European stayer that remains in Melbourne Cup calculations.

The Metropolitan runner-up Opinion, The Bart Cummings placegetter Anudjawun, promising gelding Prince Of Penzance and likely Geelong Cup runners Like A Carousel, Marksmanship, Ominous, Wish Come True and Zanbagh have also been included in the Moonee Valley Cup nominations.
